My Family
Everyone’s family is different. In this craft activity we explore the members of your family by using cookie cutter stamps.
What you need:
- A4 card (preferably black so the stamps stand out)
- Kitchen sponges
- Paint
- Cookie cutters (adults and children)
- Glitter
- Plastic container
- Anything else to decorate with (flowers for mum’s hair, buttons for shirts etc)
Making this home-made stamping pads is really easy and helps to make paint last longer. To make the pad take a damp sponge and put it into the plastic container. Apply a few squirts of paint and massage it into the sponge using a paint brush or your fingers to make sure the paint is worked through as much of the sponge as possible. Your homemade stamp is ready to go!
Sit the kids down around a table and help them make family stamps using the cookie cutters. Once dry the kids can decorate their family adding accessories and faces.
When the kids have finished playing you can put a lid on your stamp and use it again. Just add some water next time you need a stamp and it’s ready to go.
Extension Idea: Talk to the kids about what makes a family. How many people are in your family? Do you have a big family or a small family?
