Paper Rockets
Watch imagination take off as you make these paper rockets at playgroup.
What you need:
- Coloured paper cut into squares, rectangles and triangles
- Black paper
- Glitter
- Sparkly pipe-cleaners
- Glue
Pre-cut the coloured paper into rectangles, squares and triangles and put them into a few containers. Give each child a piece of black paper and help them make a rocket from the coloured shapes.
This is a great time to explore shapes with children, ask them questions like, what shape would you like to use next? Can you find a triangle, etc.
Once the kids have made a rocket they can add pipe-cleaners as exhaust flames, glitter as stars or just use markers to draw on the rocket.
Remember, it’s the process of play we encourage not the end product so please applaud your child’s efforts even if the rocket looks more like it exploded when leaving the Earth’s atmosphere!
