Join the Playgroup WA Board

We are inviting applications from those who are interested in becoming a Playgroup WA Board Member and are wanting to contribute to the governance and future direction of our organisation.

About the Role

The Board’s role is to:

Board meetings are held 6-weekly, generally in-person, between school and business hours. Childcare is provided for in-person meetings. With COVID restrictions and to maximise flexibility, some meetings are held virtually via Zoom. Board members also participate in one of the Board’s subcommittees.

Current board membership is diverse, with a range of experience and skills to ensure good governance and strategic direction.

Skills and Experience

Whilst all applications will be considered, skills and experience in any of the following areas will be highly regarded:

Metro and country-based members are encouraged to apply, as the Board will look at ways to ensure effective representation and time management.

Previous Board or Management Committee experience is not essential, however will be viewed favourably. Most importantly, we require engaged board members with a keen interest in the development of the under 5’s who have a connection, understanding and commitment to playgroups.

About Playgroup WA

Playgroup WA, as the peak body for playgroups in Western Australia, has been supporting, servicing and establishing playgroups throughout Western Australia for almost 50 years.

Research shows children who attend playgroup are less likely to be developmentally vulnerable when they start school. Playgroup WA’s work in supporting children, families and communities throughout Western Australia remains as important today as when it started.
