Brain Box – Professional Resource

The Brain Box is a resource for professionals to use to provide accurate, consistent, and critical information to parents and other community members about the importance of the first 1000 days of a child's life, the significance of early brain development, and everyday activities that can help build strong brains. Importantly, it encourages conversation around the idea that children thrive when their parents have the support they need right from the start.

The Brain Box is packed with extensive research on brain and child development, broken down into easily digestible sections that focus on early development, responsive relationships, stress, protective factors, and play and learning ideas. The goal is to emphasize what parents, caregivers and communities can do to optimise early brain and child development.

On this webpage, you’ll find:

  • the Brain Box Facilitator’s Guide which will guide you on how to use the accompanying resources
  • a set of low resolution* printable posters covering the 13 key messages
  • a PowerPoint presentation that covers the same information as the posters
  • A step-by-step guide on creating three brain models at different stages of development, which are an essential part of the Brain Box activities

These options provide you with choices for how to tailor your presentation.
