Hot Air Balloon
Why not make a bunch of these cute hot air balloons to hang up at your playgroup?
What you need:
- Paper plates
- Coloured paper strips
- String
- Card
- Glue
- Hole Punch or sticky tape
Cut out lots of coloured paper to make strips or cubes, put all the coloured paper scraps into a container so they don’t blow away. Set up a table with glue, the coloured paper and a paper plate for each child. Once everything is set up, invite the kids to come and decorate their plate. They can make a collage with the coloured paper or draw on the plate with crayons/pens. Once they have finished put the plate somewhere safe to dry. Next, make the balloon basket by cutting a piece of card into a basket shape (if the children are old enough consider drawing a shape for them to cut out themselves). The punch two holes in the basket and two holes in the balloon and join together with string (if you don’t have a hole punch, sticky tape is a fine replacement).
These balloons look great hung in a row with their baskets dangling down.
