Paper Butterflies

You can make these gorgeous butterflies with only pipe cleaners and a sheet of kitchen towel! Perfect for brightening up your playgroup.

What you need:

• Kitchen paper towel
• Pipe cleaners
• Felt tip pens for decorating

Sit the kids down and give them a few sheets of kitchen towel to decorate. You can use felt tip pens, stickers or anything else you have to decorate the sheets. Once they have finished decorating the sheet gather it together in the middle and wind a pipe cleaners around the middle. Make sure to leave enough pipe cleaner at the top for antennae.

Extension Idea: Why not tie in story time to your craft activity? The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a lovely book and a perfect accompaniment to this craft. You could also make the caterpillar shown below and talk to your child about where butterflies come from.
