Spaceship

Paperplate spaceshipHow cute would a row of these look hanging up at playgroup? These paper plate spaceships are super easy to make and really effective.

What you need:

  • Paper plate
  • Glitter
  • Crayons or pencils
  • Small coloured patty pans
  • Stickers or cut up paper for decorating
  • Scissors
  • Glue

To make the paper plate look like a UFO carefully cut along half of the inside circle (see image above), then fold the outside rim down. Set up a table with glue, glitter, coloured patty pans, stickers, crayons and anything else you have in the craft cupboard. Help the children decorate their spaceship however they like.

We used the patty pans as alien eyes and the stickers as portholes, but as no one knows what a UFO looks like the kids can decorate it any way.

Extension idea: Engage with your child as they make their spaceship by asking them questions like, where is the alien going? Have they travelled far? How many aliens are in the spaceship? What colour is the spaceship, etc.
