Play Ideas for Parents and Children

We all know that play is fun but play is also a major part of healthy child development. Play is how children learn about the world around them and how to use their language, touch, smell, hearing and bodies.  It is how children learn cooperation and resilience. It provides the building blocks that help children be ready for school.

On this page you will find a range of play ideas that cover all the major areas of child development as part of our Enhanced Transition to Schools project. There are play ideas for babies (under 12 months), toddlers (aged 1 to 3 years) and children (aged 3 to 5 years). There are play ideas for playgroup and home. You can use the Filter and Search bar to find ideas.
